Forensic Odontology

Forensic odontology applies dental science to legal investigations by analysing dental records to identify human remains or to identify the culprit based on a bite mark left on the victim or at the scene. Whether they are on the victim, in chewing gum or food, or both, criminals have been known to leave bite marks where the crime was committed. After a bite mark is discovered, a lot of things need to be done. After the mark has been adequately photographed, a saliva sample is collected from the area to check for any DNA evidence.
